nvidia + h264 + vdpau

i am installing a system which will play some h264 files from HD tv. however, mythtv hangs with a 100 lines of errors. although me-tv can play the channel, but the cpu usage is very high (150%). i do a little search and someone said vdpau can help to play h264 files. when i try to install libvdpau (i guess that's what i need), pacman said conflict with libgl.
so i re-install the whole system from the beginning. when i try to install nvidia, pacman said nvidia-utils conflict with libvdpau.
am i doing the right thing or i install the wrong package ?

you won't need libvdpau. Actually this looks more like what you are looking for: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25491

Re: nvidia + h264 + vdpau

ok, i reinstall the mplayer from aur and it still got very high cpu usage. my best friend "google" point me to a web page
http://blog.avirtualhome.com/2009/05/29 … on-ubuntu/

so, i add the file ~/.mplayer/config
as stated in the page.
wow, my cpu usage drop to lowest 3%.

i will try the mythtv later. thanks for all help.

Re: nvidia + h264 + vdpau

actually you dont even need the feature "crippled" mplayer version from aur. simply recompiling the version from extra (sudo yaourt -Sb mplayer) should do the job, as the config script autodetects vdpau support. (you have to run this as root, because the mplayer configure script has some issues with freetype2 detection.)
