"Ive tried all, but no lucky." -> Well, what did you try out? What does it mean can't work by you ?
What's the exact error/problem with it ? Product/Vendor ID maybe stimm.
Which program did you try to use ? Skype/AMSN or which one ?
Please give us more information for us to help you. The more the better.

Cheese, camorama, skype and others did not even detect my webcam.

No software detect it. Well, and what's the ouput this softwares ? Can we see that ? Could you try to start these applications in verbose mode, if possible to see more details ?

Re: Genius iLook 300 Webcam

Can you try using that webcam on an older kernel?
Many are having issues with webcams on Linux 2.6.30: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=74828

Re: Genius iLook 300 Webcam

Cheese or Ekiga dont give any output in verbose mode, just a message telling:

 No webcam was detected

Skype:

Skype Video Capture: Cannot open device '/dev/video0': No existe el fichero o el directorio
Starting the process...
Skype Xv: Xv ports available: 33
Skype XShm: XShm support enabled
Skype Xv: Using Xv port 57
Skype Xv: No suitable overlay format found

aMSN

open(/dev/video0): No such file or directory
open(/dev/video0): No such file or directory
open(/dev/video0): No such file or directory

When i plug and unplug my webcam i see this in dmesg:

Linux video capture interface: v2.00
gspca: main v2.5.0 registered
process `skype' is using obsolete setsockopt SO_BSDCOMPAT
usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 2
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

Ill try with an older kernel now.

Re: Genius iLook 300 Webcam

Well, in this case kernel doesn't detect your webcam (no module can handle it, /dev/video* doesn't get created).
I guess it's not going to work even on older kernel...

You should look for what modules can handle your webcam, and install such modules...

Re: Genius iLook 300 Webcam

Hi, after looking a REALLY long time...
Ive found this webpage:

http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.linux.org.ru%2Fview-message.jsp%3Fmsgid%3D3290795&sl=ru&tl=en&history_state0=

Which ive translate.
Ive installed libv4l, then the webpage says:

2. Берем модули gspca2 отсюда: http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca/ , распаковываем. You take modules gspca2 here: http://linuxtv.org/hg/ ~ jfrancois / gspca /, unpack.

Ive checked that webpage but i cant find the package that i need...
If anyone have info about a modules that works with my webcam it will be really apreciate!

Re: Genius iLook 300 Webcam

Ive downloaded this package:

http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca/rev/7876678e39df

Added my webcam in the source, but when trying to compile:

make[3]: *** [/home/jk/Desktop/gspca-7876678e39df/v4l/firedtv-1394.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [_module_/home/jk/Desktop/gspca-7876678e39df/v4l] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.30-ARCH'
make[1]: *** [default] Error 2
make[1]: se sale del directorio `/home/jk/Desktop/gspca-7876678e39df/v4l'
make: *** [all] Error 2

I think i need the linux header, but i dont really know how to installe them in arch.
uname -r:

2.6.30-ARCH
