Dialog and colors

I am trying to use the switch --colors with dialog.
If I use it with --infobox, it works fine by specifying something like dialog --colors --infobox "\Z1 Test color" 10 5.

But I cannot make it work with the --textbox switch.  I know textbox reads the text from a file.  I was thinking that if the file contains the text with the (\Z...) sequences, it should work.  But it does not seem to be the case.

Am I missing something?
