is there a way to add something like NotifyOnly option to pacman.conf, so packages listed there will only result in notification about the new version and wont get installed. this is required for several packages which sometimes needs to be specifically patched (kernel, vim, amule, etc), but using srcpac wont do in this cases since 1st we only want to be notified for the new version, and 2nd only once we know there is a new version released, we will manually update our PKGBUILDs to reflect the new version and compile with our private patches/whatever.
tnx.

If you use the IgnorePkg option then that's what you get: they won't be installed, but you do get a notice when there's a new version.

Are you saying that srcpac won't let you make persistent changes across many updates?
Cause it does...

it can, but sometimes i just want to be informed of a new package version, and do my private compiling manually. i use this mainly in 2 packages -
kernel : i update my nitro patches manually
amule : i add a private patch for each version, which i have to make manually for each release.
