mpd-git with lastfm radio support!
right now you have to put the playlist on repeat, because otherwise it stops after one song. But apart from that it works really nice. 6 hours ago metadata fetching was added

What about the mpd clients? Can they handle this without changing their code?

yes.. you simply add an URL as in lastfm://artist/Pearl+Jam
