warning: failed to retrieve...

when i type "pacman -S gnome" i get this

warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra
error: failed to comit transaction (unexpected error)
errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

if someone can assist me with this problem it would be appreciated

check /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and uncomment one mirror

how do you uncomment a mirror

as root, open that file with your preferable editor and delete # character in front of a line.
