compiz fusion not working

i have my nvidia drivers installed and compiz fusion installed but when i run this command emerald & compiz --replace it doesnt start compiz. the top of the window dissappears and after that i have to turn back to metacity. if someone could assist me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

i assume you have window decorations turned on in compiz settings manager

if guzz46 solution doesnt work, does it work if you use "fusion-icon" to start compiz?

Why? what happens if you first start compiz and then emerald?

I would suggest installing fusion-icon and running that, it saves some hassle. Run ccsm (compizconfig Settings Manager) as guzz46 suggested and make sure at least 'Window Decoration', 'Resize Window' and 'Move Window' are enabled.

Then tell us if that works or not. I had the same problem when I installed compiz-fusion
