GIT Question + Rsync?

I am new to git. I am currently setting up a repository under /srv/repo/. Now the documentation is great, and i dont really have a problem setting any of this up (i think). However id like to make a copy of the repo avaliable online. This copy online will only allow users to checkout the project and view the contents.

I will be using webgit (the included web scripts), however my question is what is the best way to achieve this. I would be happy enough just to set an rsync job to sync the contents of the /srv/repo to git.example.com, or is there another way.

Id like to know your thoughts / opionons in this please.

i'd make it a bare repo (see git help clone) and use git+ssh to work with it.

Do you mean you need the file content only to be available without the revision history ?

No no, i would like the revision history. Just the git repository as readonly. So that my users can clone a branch or a revision.

you can use git-daemon, or you can use an alias in apache, or you can .... so many different ways you can do it.
