Hi,
I've noticed some bug with the avidemux 2.5.0-1 package from yesterday : importing a picture (or a sequence) does generate a failed assertion :
Assert failed :0

I've tried different files, some jpeg pictures does not crash avidemux, but every png I tried does.
Reverting to avidemux 2.4.4-3 "fixed" it : i686 x86_64
Exact same behaviour on both i686 and x86_64.
Don't want to post a bug report on http://bugs.archlinux.org/ until someone confirms me it's related to archlinux and not avidemux.

Hello Wiz!
You can decide it, whether it's archlinux or avidemux related, if you try it e.g. with livecd from other distribution, it's the most quick way, i think.

I'm getting this error as well. Just started happening.
And in the midst of such perfection,
I can't help but feel diseased.

I got a similar error when trying to save a video with the ac3 audio codec. However, using mp2 worked fine. As others did, I reverted back to 2.4.4.
Maybe we should ask for this to be put back into testing? As it seems this release is broken for a lot of people.

Hi all. I have the same problem. I used to convert my movies since 2 years with Avidemux and never had such a problem before. The Avidemux stopped to remember compression settings and setting them as it likes (ex. Quantizer default=26, after reopen the configuration it is set to 0). When I try to open an *.avi file it shows:
Assert failed :0

and crashes.
The problem concerns both QT/GTK versions and occurs on two different computers/systems.

I might revert it if I can't find a fix. I can reproduce the image importing problems reported here. Avidemux 2.5 was in testing for a week and no one reported any problems. Some users said that it was working fine. ![]()

2009-08-01: Lots of fixes are going on with 2.5.0, it is probably better to use svn if you can.
I'll put a fixed avidemux based on svn in testing.

Just have seen that in my mailbox, thank you very much. I'll give it a try
