Tablet PC software for Linux

I am about to buy HP Compaq TC1100 and just wanted to know, what can I do with it under Linux.
First, the best option for note-taking I could find, was Xournal. Is there anything better?
Second, is there any option for handwriting recognition? Maybe a Graffiti (I mean, the Palm's one) clone?
Finally, how about a system-wide gestures system?

The e17 desktop environment has a nifty tablet interface module, I haven't used it on a tablet, but it seems nice.

There is Cell Writer for hand writting recognition and Xournal is the best journalling app by far.
