Hi everyone! I've been a few days testing diverse linux distributions on my laptop to see wich one fits the best. Now I'm trying arch, and there is one issue I can't get working. It's about the SD card reader. It only works if there is a card in it at boottime. It happens the same in Ubuntu, but in fedora 11, it works just fine. I've been looking around and it seems this is an unresolved bug in the kernel. But then again... Fedora gets it right (and the fedora kernel is older than arch's).
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5737Z. I know it has been around for a while now, so I don't think that it should have anything unsupported by Linux.
I'll be glad to give any additional information.
Thanks in advance

The SD card on my Eee works fine if plugged in after boot, I am on 2.6.30 so I don't think it is a kernel issue. Are you running gamin?

I was running fam. I just tried gamin, but it doesn't change anything. Do I have to do a special config or something?

do a lsmod when inserting the card before and after boot, check for differences. maybe udev just doesn't load the sd-reader module because there is no card present at boot.
if thats the case, add the module to rc.conf manually.

Hi there! I tried loading the module manually, but no success. Inserting an SD (once booted) doesn't make a difference, and nothing shows at dmesg (it does when there is a card at boot).
It seems to be a BIOS error, that somehow doesn't show up in fedora.
Anyway, I have an external card reader that works like charms, so by the moment I'll wait until the bug is solved. I've seen it has been reported, under Ubuntu.
