[NEW] initscripts-wireless - initscripts to support wireless

I found it a rather big oversight that support for wireless wasnt built into /etc/rc.conf and /etc/rc.d/network

So I did it myself. smile

Grab an arch package here: http://members.optusnet.com.au/hrayner/ … pkg.tar.gz

Added wireless support on boot. Configurable through rc.conf.
To configure, do your INTERFACES line for your wireless connection as normal, then do the new WIRELESS line to set encryption, ssid and any other options available through iwconfig.

check here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless%20setup

I had done this already 8)

mine uses a profile concept which seems to work better conceptually - that is, the interface may be the same, but use different ESSIDs and settings (profiles for "home", "school", and "starbucks" could all use wlan0/eth1 with different settings)

well, best case scenario, it wouldnt be in the standard initscripts (not everyone has wireless) but in another package like wireless-tools...

however, the alsamixer initscript has been in the wiki for ages now and hasn't been merged anywhere...
