larch & aufs2 and session 'merge overlays' option fails kernel 2.6.30

I know there was a way on 2.6.29 as per http://larch.berlios.de/ to get this to work by installing aufs2 from the listed repo

Is there a way to get this to work on kernel 2.6.30?
