Hi all,
I''m not able to load kmix at startup, I would not like to use Autostart in preference panel, because before it worked.
Anyone have son advice?
thank you

Kmix should start automatically if a sound card is located at startup or plugged in on-the-fly. Try deleting
~/.kde4/share/config/kmixctrlrc
~/.kde4/share/config/kmixrc
~/.kde4/share/config/session/kmix_*
and restarting KDE.

I really don't know my way around OSS4. I never used it and I don't think the advantage of having separate mixer channels per application is worth the trouble. But I know that many applications do not support it. If I remember correctly, KDE does not, either. Maybe you could give the alsa-plugins (for OSS4) a try?
Edit: I just found this old thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=69976
Edit2: It seems that OSS4 works with the xine backends, but Kmix support does not work properly yet. Patches have just landed in trunk and may be backported. See commit http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdemult … ev=1005823 and the bug report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166591
