Hi
I've tried to start HAL by /etc/rc.d/hal start
but it always failed
I tried:
$/usr/sbin/hald --verbose=yes
and I get
20:34:11.394 [i] hald.c:600 hal 0.5.12
20:34:11.395 [i] hald.c:681 using child timeout 250ms
20:34:11.395 [i] hald.c:690. will daemonize
20:34:11.395 [i] hald.c:691 Becoming a daeman
any ideas?

Hello.
Do you have any messaes when you start hal by /etc/rc.d/hal start.
Try to start dbus
Shell Scripter | C/C++/Python/Java Coder | ZSH
Offline
see the image:
http://sites.google.com/site/aitjcizeda … C01716.JPG
as you can see, i get the error message while starting alsa, and it cause hal to fail
so i removed alsa from the daemon list
then there's no error message from hal
but i still can't start network
I'm pretty sure that my network settings are correct
because i can start them manully by /etc/rc.d/network restart
but I just can't start them at boot time.
another question
although hal can start successfully
i still can't startx or kdm
i get a black screen and nothing happend
no keyboard is responding so i have to power down my laptop
(I've installed xf86-input-mouse, xf86-input-keyboard, xf86-input-evdev)
any idea?
thanks for reading the question.

Are you in group's hal and dbus?
If no:
gpasswd -a user hal
Same in dbus
Shell Scripter | C/C++/Python/Java Coder | ZSH

But the network problem still remains
I have to manully type in:

Hi aitjcize,
You should add "network" (without the quotes) to your daemons array in /etc/rc.conf if it is not there already. I actually removed network from my daemons array, as I use wicd to connect to the net through eth0. Pacman -S wicd and add wicd and remove network from the daemons array is all it takes. I have had absolutely no issues with wicd at all, so I really recommend it. Also if you use a network manager applet, wicd already has wicd-client built in which replaces network manager applet.
Hope this helps
