thanks for the link:
we have no prelink package
and the whole libs have to be compiled with this option to get an effect
and only startup times are affected
i don't have the time to experiment with this
feel free to make tests with it
i heared it can break things while compiling

i would be interested in the results

I have  a problem with kdebase (kdebase-3.3.1-2 ) in extra:

error: the following file conflicts were found:
  kdebase: /opt/kde/share/apps/kdm/faces/.default.face.icon: exists in filesystem

problem is explained on arch homepage news section
you changed your user icons in kdm
if you don't want to update it to new arch defaults set it to notupgrade list in pacman.conf else use -f option with pacman
