makepkg error: Integrity checks are missing. elinks-git

Hello:

I was trying to install elinks-git from AUR, but it failed.  I tried to build the package locally using the instructions on the wiki, but again ran into the same error:  Integrity checks are missing.  I've been unable to find a description of this error or how to fix it.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

makepkg -g >> PKGBUILD && makepkg

It is because that package does not follow the git packaging guidelines...

Fantastic!

I also had to modify one directory name under /src (name included incorrect date), but after that & using your suggestion, it worked like a charm.

Thank you for your help,
Rob

There should really be a flag to turn off integrity checks for PKGBUILDs that you are making yourself and testing. I know makepkg -g is the easiest thing ever but if we keep making formalities like this mandatory, the ease of making an Archlinux package - setting us apart from Debian and Redhat - will be lost.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

I think that there will be such a flag in the new version of makepkg, there have been patches submitted on arch bugtracker.

These formalities keep you from installing a broken package.

archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

Whether this feature is implemented or not, it's off topic for this thread. The bug tracker is the place for feature requests, and as mentioned, patches have already been submitted.
