Need GNOME help

Im not entirely new to linux.  ive used ubuntu several times with hatred.  and finaly decided to get arch working.  and now i have arch installed with a working GNOME gui.  it's still a little ugly and i was wondering the following.

In GNOME when you click on the desktop and "Change desktop background" then the appearance menu comes up... normaly im used to there being an effects tab. where i can select none. normal. or special.  and that tab is not there.  I've been looking for what package i might be missing but cant seem to find it. if anyone knows why i cant find it let me know please.  my gui is awful looking tongue

Thanks!

Re: Need GNOME help

As far as I'm aware that's an Ubuntu thing. You'll need to install compiz (and all the relevant stuff) and configure through compiz-config-settings-manager.

You are right it is a Ubuntu written interface to access compiz fusion.  On Arch you need to install and configure it yourself.  Very simple to do with gnome if you follow this wiki page:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Compiz

The benefit of this is that you can do a hell of a lot more than the standard ubuntu version. wink

The software required Windows XP or better, so I installed archlinux.
