UUID went missing

Hello everybody,

since my latest update i have a harddrive (esata) which has no symlink in /dev/disk/by-uuid/ but lt shows up with blkid. is there any way to fix this?

it would be the same as using /dev/sdxy because it does not change when another device gets detected bevor it

I would try out it, or you need for restoring the backup.

Does /dev/disk/by-label work e.g., or other modes in /dev/disk/by-* ?

i use the uuid for cryptsetup (crypttab), the funny thing is that all the other links are present. does by-id or by-path have any disadvantages over by-uuid?

Well the drive has a uuid, only the symlink is missing. and even if i change it the symlink doesn't get created...

Why didn't you try out to establish that links manually ? Just a probe to it.

What exactly am i supposed to symlink? /dev/sdxy or a symlink to a symlink in the other by-* that seems to be working?
