You've asked a question and given us absolutely no information to help you. You aparently have a start menu? That's about all we know. What DE/WM are you running? Any other stuff we should know about?
archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

for future reference what is DE/WM?

for future reference what is DE/WM?
DE: Desktop Environment (e.g. KDE, Gnome, Xfce, LXDE)
WM: Window Manager (e.g. Openbox, XMonad, Awesome, dwm)
You have to remember that there is no default system on Arch and that we all use very different systems. When you ask for help, you have to give us as much relevant information as you can about your system.

I assume you're talking about a guake, or one of those type things. yakuake maybe, since you're on KDE. Try running "yakuake &" in a regular terminal.

Yakuake, I'm thinking, should be in the KDE menu.
