PS3 dropping "Other OS" feature

Ø Removal of "Install Other OS" feature

The new PS3 system will focus on delivering games and other entertainment content, and users will not be able to install other Operating Systems to the new PS3 system.

I wonder if this means that existing PS3s will also lose that menu item through firmware upgrades? I'd hate to lose my SNES emulator sad

Re: PS3 dropping "Other OS" feature

I think that will only be ... a feature for the PS3-slim only.

Here's some more http://www.h-online.com/open/PS3-Slim-d … ews/114033

It is unknown if this change will also apply to existing PS3 systems, especially with the announcement of a soon to be released Firmware 3.00 update for the PS3.

Watch as the number of hackers working on the PS3 triples. We'll have kernel-mode access in a month.
Ahh, Sony... did you learn nothing from the PSP? :-/
