dell mini 10 backlight

I have a file /sys/class/backlight/dell_backlight/brightness which I should be able to use to set brightness.  I have acpid running when I try to set it, but nothing happens when I do.  Does anyone here know how to use this file to access brightness or another way to set it?

Does the Dell Mini have hotkeys for brightness?  What exactly are you doing to 'set' this file to the desired brightness?

Re: dell mini 10 backlight

It does have hotkeys.

I am using echo $value > /sys/class/backlight/dell_backlight/brightness as root to set it.

try using Cat instead, or use the Fn brightness up key if you have it
