It started yesterday. I haven't upgraded to any package or anything, seriously having some issues with pulseaudio
1. PA works (according to pavucontrol) but won't output sound (even tweaking the configuration files won't do)
2. makes ALSA application crash sometimes
3. sometimes restarting PA server works.. but this time it didn't

delete what? reconfigure? tried once but didn't work as expected so I turned everything back to normal

you could always try removing pulse audio.... personally it seems to me to be more of a headache then its worth, plus it increases your sound latency. if there is some specific feature you want, there may be other options.
just a thought.

I just set my whole system *well, almost all, some apps just uses alsa*, to be honest I like it I never had any problems after setting it and compiled mplayer, xmms2, SDL with pulse support. although I've been looking at JACK and OSS *more in depth*. Not that it's hard to remove, just want stability in sound output (like flash in working in harmony with others, after I installed libflashsupport-pulse everything just worked and with java I just use "padsp" in what I can)
Well, everything is back to normal thankfully after I inspected the config file.
I do have a question, sometimes I have to force my computer to shutdown due to it going to standby mode (KDE). I imagine it might have something to do with pulseaudio locking up maybe it didn't do the proper lock removals?
