yaourt doesn't update AUR packages

Could someone help to find what is wrong with my yaourt.

When I use yaourt -Syu --aur it doesn't check for AUR packages to update. It shows only core/extra/community packages. I have outdated AUR packages but yaourt doesn't show them to update

Please help!

not using yaourt but this page says the right usage is:
yaourt -Syu –aur
