Audio Settings in Arch [SOLVED]

Hey ppl
After starting up a new Arch Linux HTPC with the intent of running Freevo on it I have a quick query.
At the mo I am setting up Xine in LXDE and have a peculiar error when adjusting audio settings.
I go into the preferences, audio and then try to set speaker arrangement to 4.0 ie two front two rear.
At this point the whole system freezes and I need to kill LXDE.  What could be going on here, and does anyone have any tips for setting up sound correctly in Arch/LXDE/Xine.  I have ran alsa setup as per wiki and have four working channels.
Cheers,
Larry

It's okay guys.  I reckon it's just a Xine thing.
I edited the ~/.xine/config file to 5.1 ch output using my custom device 51to40 as can be found at http://www.halfgaar.net/surround-sound-in-linux  For all other stereo files I prefer the straighthrough format to front speakers anyway and it all works fine.
No need to worry anymore...
L
