Re: Ethernet eeePC 1005HA Help ArchLinux 32bit 2.6.30

For me, stock atl1c module works fine with the new kernel.

same card here. Remember to un-blacklist atl1c, if needed.

atl1c is not blacklisted. If I upgrade kernel to .31, no interfaces are found. Only "lo" interface.

Re: Ethernet eeePC 1005HA Help ArchLinux 32bit 2.6.30

Check if atl1e is loaded (lsmod | grep atl1e). If it is, unload it (rmmod atl1e). Check if atl1c is loaded (lsmod | grep atl1c). If it is not, load it (modprope atl1c). Then try to bring up the interface (ifconfig etho up). If it works, change your rc.conf accordingly.
For me, atl1c is automatically loaded, and eth0 just works.

Yeah, atl1c now with .31.4 works. I forgot to unload the atl1e when testing last time.

Eth0 worked for me on .30 using built atl1e from the Atheros website, but it wouldn't work on .31 and wouldn't build, however, the stock kernel module seems to work fine. Haven't tested it much. (using wlan)

I found a solution. I added "acpi=off" parameter in grub entry of Arch and it worked for .31 kernel. Maybe it will be useful for you.

Re: Ethernet eeePC 1005HA Help ArchLinux 32bit 2.6.30

How are people's wireless connections?
My wife's 1005ha running current arch vanilla kernel seems to drop the wireless signal quite often - odd since our router is only a few feet away.

Is anyone else having problems with the wireless quality?

Use the latest stable compat-wireless (2.6.32-rc7) module.

Thanks.

I just tried to install the version of compat-wireless in AUR but got an error about the kernel version in use.

Yeah I also had problems with the version in AUR.
Download it from linuxwireless.org, it's pretty straight forward. smile

Re: Ethernet eeePC 1005HA Help ArchLinux 32bit 2.6.30

I realize this is an old thread, but when I was searching this morning, it was the first one that I found.
Like some others,  I found that not only did the ethernet not work, but also seemed to kill the card.  I tried the battery thing and enabling/disabling the card in BIOS, but it seems that it's simply a matter of rebooting and eventually the card comes back.

To solve the problem, I used the later Archboot image from 2010 March, which sees the card and installs normally.

Interesting that trying to install with the older image actually seems to do something that makes the card invisible to other distributions.  I have no idea why that happens.

Re: Ethernet eeePC 1005HA Help ArchLinux 32bit 2.6.30

Some trouble here with an ASUS N61JQ laptop which uses this some Ethernet card.

Card just disappears and remains invisible for other distributions or Window$.

Reappears by disconnecting the laptop and taking the battery off.

Works without problems with last stable Ubuntu. Go figure.

Don; t have a solution yet.
