powernow modules?

my question isn't exactly on getting powernow to work or how to set it up or fix it. its more towards the hardware itself.

i'm getting a phenom X4, my first new piece of hardware in a loooong time. i've been using powernow on my athlon x2 so i don't have any problem setting that up.

my question is, i'm getting a black edition, i'm wondering, if i only OC with the multiplier, is it possibly to get powernow to work with an OC like that. say stock speed is 3.2 and i up it to 3.4, powernow only work in multiplier increments right? so would it work that way? or am i dreaming?

Re: powernow modules?

I think OC'ing usually means you don't get to use the Cool 'n' Quiet function, since it's set to predefined frequencies (800 Mhz, 1000 Mhz, 1600 Mhz, etc.).

Re: powernow modules?

hmm, answers seem kind of back and forth. i found a thread at anandtech that suggests the phenoms can, depending on the motherboard. someone said it worked with an asus m3a78-t, but not with a gigabyte board. im getting the asus m4a79-t

so i don't know. guess i'll have to try it when the new hardware comes in i guess
