Screen goes blank during bootup

I've got the video card set right in the kernel but screen goes blank during bootup.  First I see the boot messages for about a second then it goes blank, but I hear the drive moving and can tell it boots up ok, even without video.

Any idea on a fix?  Thanks.

Do you have the vga=773 thing appended to your kernel line? (assuming you're using grub).  I forget what the equivalent thing is in lilo but it's a vga= line.  If so try removing it and/or setting it to vga=normal.  Just a guess.

I turned off frame buffer option in kernel and video is ok now.  thanks.
