Exiting after editing

I was editing my /etc/rc.conf after the ping test after installation failed, and now I can't figure out how to save/exit. Help?

Edit: I found out that :quit<enter> can be used, but I get a E37: No write since last change, so I added the ! like it told me, but it says quit: command not found.

sad

Re: Exiting after editing

Are you using vi? If so, use ':wq' to save and quit, ':q!' to quit without saving, and ':wq!' to force save and quit.

Re: Exiting after editing

I have no idea, but :exit seems to work.

Since that problem's fixed, I have another question.

since I am behind a router, do I need to do something like:

# iwconfig wlan0 essid linksys key ABCDEF01234

for the ping check to work?

Re: Exiting after editing

I would highly recommend you reading the wiki regarding wireless if you have not already done so.

This is assuming you are using wireless and do not have an ethernet cable connected (usually a blue cable from the router to your computer).

The software required Windows XP or better, so I installed archlinux.
