Does anybody suffers from compiz issue (agressive cpu usage).
Yes, I do suffer. It's a known bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/389686. Compiz fails to kill metacity.
Try killing metacity

Thnx man, I thought that gnome-session caused this but it's metacity after all, thnx
killall metacity fixes the issue, muchos gracias amigo

Thanks for the packages, I'm using x86_64 and noticed few things:
- It takes some time to logout, I don't see any abnormal errors or warnings
- 'Startup Applications' fails to add any startup programs
- Nautilus doesn't detect any of my partitions, instead it shows fd0 even though I have disabled the floppy controller along with 1.44MB boot device
- When sound theme is enabled, in case of any event when a sound plays, at the end of each there's a loud crack/pop which is very bad for my amp.

1. I agree, but I've seen some error messages like:

2. Startup apps are bringing up fusion-icon and conky quite nicelly So no problems for me here
3. It's weird about nautilus, I can't eject a blank dvd and every time upon closing a dvd session it brings up can not mount media and burning gets through but half of data is unreadable on dvd... Devicekit related thingy?
4. I don't keep sound themes enabled... When I enabled it just to test no poping sounds occurs...

Hey thanks for the feedback,
The startup entries seem to work now, I had to specify absolute file paths, e.g. '/usr/bin/xfwm4' instead of 'xfwm4'. I'm getting bombarded with:
Window manager warning: Failed to read saved session file /home/nfm/.config/metacity/sessions/103e091ee49230cb54125376105910507300000029650017.ms:
...Too much output, ignoring rest...
This message is so old and annoying that it is ridiculous that it wasn't fixed yet. Also gnome-terminal fails on me occasionally:
Vte:ERROR:vtestream-file.h:30:_xread: assertion failed: (fd || !len)

Hum, now i have a little bug in the notification area of the panel:

Thanks for the packaging. It's working great here on x86_64. My only problem is that I can't entirely disable the icons in the gnome-panel (not those in notification area, of course) and the Gnome Menu Bar has a fixed size of 25-26 pixels which stretches my panel to an unwanted size. I used 21 pixels per Panel for years and I can barely stand the huge panel right now.
Any idea on how to disable the icons in the menus of the Panel? Any idea if I can force Gtk via theming to *not* bringt bloat to my panel? It has to be related to the "no icons on buttons"-decision Gnome has made for 2.28. I had these icons disabled anyway.
Here's a small screenshot. The orange line is part of my wallpaper. http://img5.imagebanana.com/img/whgra8a … nshot1.png

@nfm
Yeah, I get these messages about .config/metacity regulary...
@Thek586
I had these problems with gnome 2.26 also, but now in 2.28 it's getting worse, sometimes entire notification area in panel is gray, I can't even see the icons (although when I right click on the position fusion-icon or power-manager respond I just can't see them )
@Maledictvm
Ur wright, panel can be shrinked to 24px and below it's not responding, but that doesn't annoy me, I keep it @25...

Edit: After another reboot, yes, it's getting really worse:
Thanks
so, i'm going to do a bug report

JGC, is evolution-mapi any closer to getting included? I'd presume samba4 is still a blocker? Tinuva meantioned that samba 3.4 includes the samba4 source which can be enabled with --enable-merged-build. Seems a follow-on from the Franky project.
What I've noticed is that our samba hasn't upped from 3.37, is there a reason for that?

I'd like to use the sound-applet on Ubuntu Karmic's alphas on Arch because it makes a lot easier to use bluetooth hadsets (I've not been able to make them work without that thing before), anyone knows if it's possible to use it? At least the name of the package where it should be?

i have a minor problem bluetooth-applet

does anyone know how can i fix that? policykit is set up correctly, i think:D . in fact doesn't work at all, scanning doesn't detect anything but in console hcitool is working.

Very weird pacman (from testing) behaviour:
Yeah the same thing happened to me. Read more about it here :
http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … 09575.html
To sum up :
when adding "any" packages (which are symlinks) to the database with repo-add, stupid repo-add used the size of the symlink instead of size of the real destination file. So the database is messed up for any packages. And these wrong size info from the database are used for download progress when you use TotalDownload. (otherwise they are only used to show the download size before downloading).
However it's not specific to gnome-unstable so no need to hijack that thread more
(but it's not something you could have known )

So no one having troubles with the latest i686 packages ? I had big troubles after the last update yesterday, most gnome apps would just crash, segfault or fail to load. But I have not been able to investigate what the real issue was.

what packages are you talking about. maybe they come in x86_64 too. personally i didn't noticed any problems, except the bluetooth

That's why I wrote "weird pacman behaviour" but not "group/packaging behaviour". I hope that there is gonna be a fix soon for that
-------
GNOME here (x64) can't start properly. Gnome-settings-daemon has a weird output (nothing useful), and there seem to be a metacity loading issue (from files within ~/.config/metacity).
I reinstalled GNOME 2.26 and there is no problem. Is it an upstream issue or a packaging one ? (schemas to be created for gconf ?)
