[SOLVED] mc-like program to use for scp?

Hi,

I usually use mc (Midnight Commander) to transfer files via ftp, but a server on my school, to which I have to transfer some files, only supports scp.

I tried searching google for some hints, where I found that I simply had to use the Shell link option in mc. But this does not work for me.

So I want to know - does anyone have knowledge of a mc-like program to be used to transfer files via scp?

Re: [SOLVED] mc-like program to use for scp?

Hi, I'm having problems with mc and scp too. First of all, I can only connect if the server is running on port 22, and there seems to be no way of changing that (exept changing the source). Anyway, if I set my ssh server to port 22 I can connect, but when it questions about the authenticity of the host and my password, then mc get really fucked up displaying lines and text everywhere, and is simply not usable.

I do get the connection working, and the interface seems to get back to normal after resizing the window (or C-O,C-O). But I don't want to use port 22.

Been looking for a substitute for some time, but as for CLI apps, i have yet to find one.

Well, that seemed easy enough, I cannot believe I have not done that before. But when I try to mount, it says "write: Broken pipe" Any suggestions?

I tried using the "Shell link" menu-item, but no connection was made?

Exactly, the "Shell link" works for me. I've just tried with username@localhost as input and get connect to my PC straight away. Also I've been doing this from a Crunchbang(ed) laptop for a long time. What's different? Indeed the help page says this is for fish shell but works perfectly fine for ssh.

Sadly, it didn't work when I try to connect this way to my school server.. So I had to figure out some other way neutral... Well, nevermind, I use sshfs now, and it works like a charm smile
