Best way to install ATI Proprietary Drivers

I have been looking around google, the arch linux wiki, and many other sites and I can't seem to find a good method in which to install the ATI Proprietary Drivers. I looked on the wiki, and the way I used to do them by the AMD/ATI method had a not recommended warning. How did you guys install them? Thanks for your time?

People seem to be having problems with that package. Have you done it? What card do you use? I have an ATI Radeon 4850.
