Sound has never been a problem, now after and update it doesn't work at all. Driver seems to be loaded OK, volumes are up, nothing. Alsamixer loads up and shows the correct device. Works fine in Windows, so not a hardware problem.
/dev/dsp exists. XMMS complains that it couldn't open audio. Doesn't work as root either, so not a permissions problem.

have you tried to specify your snd-hda-intel model ....

My intel sound is missing from usb mixer ; but shows up on second boot-up without cny changes...just reboot.
Latest upgrades today. X86-64 system.
