[solved] fglrx: virtual size + annoying "Restoring recent mode"

Hi there,

recently a bought a new lcd and now i have a little problem to run it in its native resolution and fglrx. I have tried severel modifications to my primal xorg.conf but it did not worked the way i prefer. This abridgment fom Xorg.0.log tells the basic:

(--) fglrx(0): Virtual size is 1920x1080 (pitch 0)
(--) fglrx(0): Virtual size is 1920x1080 (pitch 0)
(--) fglrx(0): Virtual size is 1920x1080 (pitch 1920)
(II) fglrx(0): Restoring recent mode: 1280x1024@60Hz

When the login-managers (tested kdm, xdm) appear the monitor say its resolution is 1280x1024. Moving the mouse cursor i can scroll inside the virtual resolution of 1920x1080. I can login and call kcontrol can set the native resolution. The lcd's predecessor run at 1280x1024 but i am not sure about context. Where is this ominous "recent mode" stored? Why is restored? Why is the native resolution set a virtual one? How can i convince fglrx to avoid this?

System: x86_64, lastest updates, catalyst9.8, radeon hd 4850 -> DVI -> iiyama ProLite B2409HDS
current xorg.conf http://pastebin.com/m13c098c7
full Xorg.0.log http://pastebin.com/m414e46a

regards

Re: [solved] fglrx: virtual size + annoying "Restoring recent mode"

Okay, accidentally I found the solution.

First: recent mode ist stored in /etc/ati/amdpcsdb
Second: it was activated because my old monitor was still connected with its dvi cord because i just wanted to test whether the cable is long enough for the old monitor's new location aside the new monitor. His power cord was off but the dvi cord obviously works as a current line transporting enough power enabling the graphic card to identify the powered off monitor. My eyes didn't caught the Xorg.0.log-lines related to this. Old monitor's resolution was set as recent mode. Why? I don't know, but now fglrx takes new monitor's native resolution when X comes up.

bye
