GNOME Font Size too small upon startup

Ok, so I recently hooked up an old computer to a big screen TV and everything is working perfectly except that upon GNOME startup the font size (for menus and filenames, et cetera) is too small.  However, when I open Apperance from System > Preferences > Appearance the font size reverts back to normal.

I tried googling this but I couldn't find anything on the matter.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Have you found a solution yet? If not then this can be considered as a bump, as I have the same problem and would really like to fix it.

you may have to set the DPI correctly in xorg.conf or xrandr during X startup.

Setting DPI worked for me.  My default fonts looked a bit smaller than I wanted so I "upped" the DPI a tad and it looks perfect now wink.

Thanks,
