need to manually install a package with no network [SOLVED]

I have a new laptop and can't get the network to run.  According to the wiki,  I can run 'hwdetect --show-net' to figure out which module I need.  Problem is I can't use pacman to get hwdetect smile  I grabbed it from the /var/cache/pacman/pkg and put it on a usb stick and copied it to the laptop's /var/cache/pacman/pkg but I can't install it... help smile

EDIT: NEVERMIND, I used the -U switch as if I built it from a PKGBUILD file and it work!
