2009.08, LVM, can't mount root fs

The title says it all...

Installed Arch with LVM according to this:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lvm

Everything went fine for installation.  However, when I rebooted, I received the dreaded "couldn't mount root fs" message.  Just prior to that, the LVM partition gets recognized and mounted.  WTF?

More info on computer:
sda1=/boot 200mb
sda2=swap 4gb
sda3 / sdb1 / sdc1=root-filesystem LVM

I've tried hardware and software solutions.  Been banging my head for about 8 hours now trying to get this to work.

Any ideas?  I've been using Arch for about 3 years now...  Never tried to LVM working, and Arch wouldn't recognize hardware RAID for some weird reason.  Driving me insane.  Having to use my second choice OS (Fedora 11) until I can figure this out...

that page is horribly out of date.  aif has support for lvm out of the box.
