Printer ignored

I installed cups with the files specified in the cups wiki.  Configured the printer on the localhost cups page.  Requested a test page but nothing happened.

Went to the Ubuntu side and copied the ppd driver that I used there.  Deleted the old printer and set up new with the "working" driver. 
I emailed the ppd from Ubuntu and copied it to /etc/cups/ppd.  In the cups page I browsed to the ppd.  It was found and, presumably, installed.  But, no printing and an error message.

Epson2200 "Filter "commandtoepson" for printer "Epson2200" not available: No such file or directory"

Ideas?
