Re: have a alsa problem

The messages mean aplay is not sending data fast enough to your sound card. It is a buffer underrun.

If you are just installing Arch, you can continue following the Beginners Guide and fix the sound later.

Try the wiki article ALSA for help. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ALSA

For more help on the forum, people will want to know what sound card you have.

Re: have a alsa problem

You wouldn't happen to be installing in VMWare or VMWare Fusion, would you?  That's the exact error I get when I install in a VM.  If not, then ignore this message. If you are, however, there is not an immediate fix.  Check the VMWare forums for solutions that have helped some people; however, these solutions did not help me; I ended up (temporarily, I hope) disabling Alsa and installing OSS.  Not a perfect solution, but at least I have sound (and music!).

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

I use vmware to run ARCH in my XP
and today i fellow u suggestion to use oss instead. when i #osstest ,the testsound was good for just around 2 sec and then it sounds like kinda noise (feeled like some kinda slowing down)
have u met the similar problem before, and how can i fix this?
