Emacs not load in KDE

I am running latest KDE4.3 (kdemod, actually), and want to load Emacs (GTK or ideally KDE-native Qt app).

I have latest emacs-cvs too.

Emacs loads fine within konsole, just not as its own app.

I've looked in /var/log for clues, but don't see any issues.

Any ideas?

Re: Emacs not load in KDE

Emacs runs fine with KDE 4.3 here. (Though I'm not running kdemod, now that the official KDE is modular.)

Does emacs run in other window environments? Have you tried launching emacs from the command line to see what error messages you get? For instance, if .Xdefaults or .Xresources has an incorrect setting, then emacs won't launch from a menu.

Re: Emacs not load in KDE

i got one idea, its your /etc/hosts file.

Make sure you have something like:
127.0.0.1       localhost               localhost <hostname>

there's a wiki that talks about that issue in emacs.
