Re: any music player good?

Good depends on your total needs. There's a growing list on the wiki of programs that people are using:

I use mpd controlled through ncmpcpp and mpc.

Exaile is pretty nice. Not too heavy, and it's GTK. Google's music manager (community/musicmanager) is also pretty nice nice, it's very light.

Exactly what I do as well. ncmpcpp even has a built-in tag editor.

Re: any music player good?

+1 to the other guys running mpd.
I run mpd + ncmpcpp + sonata.
Good for me because I often don't start X.
Sonata is a very light GTK client for mpd.

Re: any music player good?

You could also try usin moc.
I personally find moc to be better - easier -  to use than mpd.

Gotta vote for Goggles myself.  Or sonata and mpd is pretty good too.

cmus is really cool, used it the last couple of weeks, but it doesn't seem to be maintained anymore, although there are several problems, not working update of the database is the worst for me,  so I have to recommend mpd + ncmpcpp (the frontend I put many ideas in wink )

yea i also did a couple. wink

i just hope ncmpcpp won't be getting too bloated, even though it's ncurses there does seem to be a growing risk of over-stuffing it with tools and functionality.

So wait, you don't want to use gmusicbrowser or rhythmbox anymore? Because they are both available in Arch. Personally I am using gmusicbrowser.

i just want to give a try other only. gmusicbrowser is strong, can edit, also can remove ape and id3v1 tag, but can't batch remove ape tag. always using one by one.:P

I use mpc and mpd. Any ideas for a manager which syncs music and videos for the iPhone? iTunes is practically the only reason why I have keep Windows.

Re: any music player good?

I use MPD + ncmpcpp (an enhanced version of ncmpc which is a ncurses version of mpc, the mpd player)

+1 for MPD
