Amarok and last.fm

The newest version of Amarok does not stream last.fm streams for me.  It keeps saying only paying subscribers can use streams but when i roll back to version 2.1.1-1, the streams work correctly.  Am i doing something wrong? I flipped back and forth a few times and i use the same configurations for both.  Anyone else have this problem? Is it just me?

Re: Amarok and last.fm

You get a certain amount of songs for free. The latest version presumably takes the easy way out and just disables them outright.

No. Your switching between the old liblastfm and the new and official open-source liblastfm. I don't know how long the old one will play streams, though.

Re: Amarok and last.fm

I don't think there is a limit on the songs, I play quite a few.

The old version of amarok (2.1.1-1) that plays the lastfm streams correctly doesn't use liblastfm, but it is a dependency of the new amarok that works incorrectly.  So an implementation internal to amarok was replaced by this liblastfm right?

Well the new one doesn't work at all so if the old one stops working, I have no options left.

The new one does work. You need to be a subscriber for the streams (which I am). Scrobbling worked for me without subscribing. That's a term of Last.fm for using their liblastfm. You can also use the webplayer on their site.

Re: Amarok and last.fm

The forum at http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=115&t=81059 seems to explain lastfm's policy changes if anyone else is interested.

I don't want to pay for a subscription and i think the webapp is annoying so I'll see if i can find some alternatives.  Bye Bye lastfm
