hello everyone,
My system is using xfce. i woud like to install amarok 1.4.latest since amarok 2 does not have an equalizer, neither does rythmbox and neither exaile.
how can i do that without pacman trying to constantly upgrading it ?
I read the wiki entry about package downgrading but it is not clear to me if thats what i want to do. actually it is very unclear for someone that is new to archlinux how downgrading anything is done safely and permanantly.
Honestly i dont see how it can be that there is no music player that include an equalizer using the current pacman repositories...unless there is another music player that i dont know of ??? that would be very nice.
please give me a hint how to achieve that , i just bought some very nice headphones and i would like to adjust my sound
thanks a lot

The pacman wiki article explains what to do. Or if you like man pages, 'man pacman.conf' does also.

ill give the solution now, i lost so much time on that...
theres is a package named amarok1 in the AUR which i the latest amarok 1.x.x
so basicly once you have installed yaourt and configure it the command to get the amarok which as an equalizer is
yaourt -S amarok1
edit: for some reason it will only build succesfully as root

Fyi, unless I'm misunderstanding you, xmms and xmms clones (audacious, qmmp, beep media player, etc) all have equalizers..
