Yes. And, there's a thread around here about a problem with pacman and this sort of thing happening. I can't remember where I saw it though.

Nothing related to a pacman database should take ~5GB of space. Yes, get rid of it. You may want to do a pacman -Syyu afterwards to make sure that you have everything in place.

@FrozenFox, thanks. That's exactly what I was thinking of.

i delete that file, then direct use "pacman -Syyu" command in terminal. after in terminal display again "no space left on device". i check in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/gpm-1.20.6-3-x86_64.pkg in size 6.680 gigabytes.@@

now my 9.17g hdd full again.:(
can i delete all file in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ ?

Re: can i delete extra.db.tar.gz.part ?

pacman -Scc will clear the cache. Just say yes to all.

I don't remember the outcome of the thread the FrozenFox posted. Read through that just in case so this doesn't happen again.

--EDIT--

pacman -Scc probably won't work. Second whoops of the day. As root:

rm /var/cache/pacman/pkg/*.part

Re: can i delete extra.db.tar.gz.part ?

There is a patch against pacman linked to in the thread I posted earlier, and a guy named Lumpy or something like that posted patched binaries for i686 and x86_64 that are supposed to resolve this problem. As I understand it, it's a bug in libfetch, but catch-able in pacman without eating your hd space further. Changing mirrors helped me to begin with, but you should take a look at that thread.. I didn't post it for nothing you know..
