Notebook hangs on Poweroff

hej,
as no problem mentioned earlier on this board exactly corresponds to the one i am encountering, i'll start a new thread here.

i am running archlinux on a acer travelmate 4500. everything's working fine except for some minor issues i am positive about being able to solve in the future.

with one thing though i really might need some help.

when i am trying do shut the machine down issuing a "sudo poweroff" the shutdown finishes to my content, but then when the hd goes down and the fan is getting quiet and everything seems to be as it should be, the computer just hangs showing the shutdown screen with the last words "POWER OFF". but from then it takes a long time (maybe two minutes) until the screen finally gets to sleep too.

has anyone any idea why that is or could be? acpi should be fine and is supported through bios, otherwise the power would not go off at all, i think.

thanks in advance for your help
