KMS control in console

Is there any way, to control KMS properties (resolution, active outputs, ...) from console?

I've got a notebook with 1680x1050 display and 1280x1024 external display. When I boot without external display, whole notebook screen is used at native resolution, but when I boot with external display plugged in, both displays are switched to 1280x1024 (internal display still runs at native resolution, but only 1280x1024 part of screen is used).

Actually, all I want is to turn external display off in console, so whole internal display gets used. For X, there is xrandr tool, but I was unable to find anything for console.

Does anybody know the way?

Re: KMS control in console

I've the same issue, though with the internal display being the lower resolution of the two.

This is only a minor annoyance for me, however, I'd be very interested in a means to configure each output -- simply disabling the external display outside of X would be fine.
