I have D-Link DWA-160 usb wifi dongle.
This one is supposed to work with ar9170usb driver, that is in kernel 2.6.31.
Everytime I connect it to my PC it freezes. When I reboot computer with it connected I get message like:
Kernel panic - not syncing: stack-protector: Kernel stack is corrupted in: c126de5d
I tried this dongle with latest Ubuntu 9.10 beta and although not flawlessly, it worked. So I assume this might be problem with Arch.

After updating to 2.6.31, I can not get access to network through D-Link DWA-140 usb card. It seems that the rt2870 driver does not work with the new kernel.

Indeed it does not. Ralink has yet to fix their rt2870 driver. I had to downgrade to 2.6.30.

I have the same problem, after upgrading to 2.6.31 the wlan-interface changed from ra0 to wlan0 and if I try a "ifconfig wlan0 up" I get "siocsifflags no such file or directory". I downgraded to 2.6.30 and hope they will fix it soon. Anyway how can this happen at all, when the driver is _in_ the kernel? Or is it not?

If someone will have the same problem, I solved it.
There was firmware missing in /lib/firmware
You can dowload it here: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ar9170
I filled a bug report for this and there should be new package created soon.
