Hi,
I have an Eeepc 701SD with LXDE/GDM running on it.
Today I ran a pacman -Syu after about 2 weeks. For some reason, now my keyboard layout on X seems to be using the US keyboard layout, while it should be abnt2 (I'm from Brazil)
I still have the hal policy "10-keymap.fdi" there, setting the "input.xkb.layout" to "br" as it was before, and hal service is running.
Strange that I didn't see any xorg or hal packages being updated, mostly gtk, gnome and gdm related packages.
Does anyone have any idea on what can be causing this?
Thanks.

hey nvivo,
got the same problem after updating to gnome 2.28.
i solved the problem configuring the keyboard layout in the (new?) gnome keyboard configuration tool under System/Preferences/Keyboard.
hope i could help .

Unfortunately this doesn't affect the gdm dialogue ![]()

for gdm >=2.28 you can adjust the keyboard layout in a dialog at the bottom of the login-screen.
(this dialog appears, when the password field is active) ...this works for me

I've seen that but it has no effect when I change the layout. It still uses the English one.
/edit: Some reboots seems to solve this

I'll take a look at that when I get home, the eeepc is with my wife.
I'm using LXDE with auto-login there, so I'll probably need to disable that and login to gnome to be able to see that option. Didn't find anything related to settings in the LXDE menu.
Thanks! I'll let you know.

You have also run gnome-settings-daemon in LXDE session prior to having keyboard layouts configured as in gnome session.

Ok, disabling the autologin and changing the keyboard settings in GDM worked for me. No need to start the gnome-settings-daemon here.
Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the tip. This solved my problem. Also I checked the keyboard layout settings at system -> preference -> keyboard and it shows the right layout settings after restarting (not like in the past after gnome 2.28 update).
