Cannot associate with certain access points

I have a Belkin PCMIA wirelss card using the ath5k module.

Depending on where I am at I can connect manually using iwconfig if I know the ESSID. However depending on the router (AKA the coffee shop wifi vs. college wifi) I cannot associate with the access point and cannot get a lease from dhcpcd. Works fine some places, other places not so much. I know this is an Arch linux issue--my card and driver worked fine in Ubuntu.

This may or may not be related:
Using iwlist wlan0 ap I get

wlan0     Interface doesn't have a list of Peers/Access-Points

Any ideas?

Re: Cannot associate with certain access points

1. Try netcfg
2. Try using dhclient or pump in place of dhcpcd
3. Disable IPv6 per the wiki

Good luck!

Re: Cannot associate with certain access points

Replacing dhcpcd with dhclient is generally a good idea. It's faster, or at least for me.

I might be wrong, since I don't use netcfg, but you might have to replace dhcpcd for dhclient in the scripts (and the syntax) for it to work.
