Hi. I just upgraded to the latest oss today and during the oss update script process I got about a hundred "device or resource busy" messages. It failed, and finished out the upgrade and I rebooted. When I logged back in again a while later I found I had no sound. lspci and lsmod revealed I had no sound cards detected anymore. /dev/snd no longer existed. amixer failed with "no mixer found". This was a major fail, so I uninstalled oss and it reverted back to the alsa kernel (or so pacman output said), rebooted, and voila! I now have sound again, but no more oss. I dont really need oss I guess, and I suppose I could just revert to the older one to fix that if I did, but I thought I would post what happened and what was done to fix it.

Not exactly the fix for the problem but it's a good heads up warning ![]()
Tomorrow when I get back home I'll test that (now it's getting late and I don't have time to fix my system if something breaks).
Edit:
Update went just fine here.
